Beyond Social Skills

Our groups are designed to go a step beyond social skills. We foster deeper social connections while practicing the tools to help friends know we are listening and keep the conversation going. We use play to encourage flexible team work and collaborative skills all while having fun. This creates improved opportunities for connection and a deeper understanding of relationships. We also tackle issues that kids deal with in their day to day life including but not limited to feelings of loneliness, navigating 3-person friendship triangles, conflict with friends, dealing with limits set by parents and general worries about the world. 

Who participates in these groups? 

While some of the children who participate meet criteria for high functioning attention deficit disorder or high functioning autism spectrum disorder, many do not. If your child is navigating peer conflict or having challenges developing more substantive relationships, group is a wonderful opportunity to gain both skills and support. There are few things in life more valuable when you are struggling than the words "me too".
